I had the pleasure of dining at Gaucho Grill in Buena Park, Orange County, for happy hour with a good friend.
What initially brought me back wasn’t just the food, it was the service I experienced previously at the bar. I came in a couple months ago just for drinks and was genuinely impressed by how welcoming and attentive everything felt.
Another small detail that stood out was the bathrooms, the LED mirrors actually make for great lighting and add a nice touch to the overall experience.
And happy hour from 11 AM–5 PM(Monday–Friday) is a major plus.
📍 First Impressions
We arrived around 11:15 AM and were seated immediately with warm service.
The space feels open, inviting, and quickly puts you at ease.
🌿 Atmosphere (Argentine Steakhouse in OC)
The vibe is warm, cozy, and rustic with:
wood tones
soft lighting
fire accents
cabin-style energy
Clean
It feels like a cozy Argentine steakhouse in Orange County, comfortable but still elevated.
There’s also a view into the kitchen where you can see the fire and cooking process, which adds character to the experience.
The space also works well for both small dinners and larger group gatherings.
🍽️ Food
We ordered:
Smoked old fashioned
Paloma
Skirt steak with mashed potatoes
Skirt steak with fries
Spinach & cheese empanada
Beef empanada
Complimentary dulce de leche flan
🌟 Standout Items
Spinach & Cheese Empanada – Crispy, buttery, and the standout dish of the meal.
Skirt Steak – Solid and hearty, but more classic than memorable for my personal taste.
Beef Empanada – Decent, but not as strong as the spinach & cheese version.
Service Experience
Service was attentive and consistent throughout the meal.
Water was refilled without needing to ask, and both staff members we interacted with were welcoming and professional.
What You Should Know Before You Go
Chimichurri is complimentary for the first serving, then $2 after (and you’ll want more)
Happy hour: Monday–Friday, 11 AM–5 PM
Sunday brunch is available
Reservations recommended for busy times or groups
Parking is easy in the shopping center lot
Pricing is higher outside of happy hour since it’s a full steakhouse
💸 Coins Spent & Value
$98 for two people
(including steaks, empanadas, cocktails, chimichurri, and dessert)
For happy hour and portion sizes, the pricing felt fair.
❌Pretty Plates
✅Good Food
✅Dope Vibes
Gaucho Grill delivers on good food and dope vibes, but the pretty plates didn’t fully land for me this time.
The dishes were more simple and classic in presentation rather than visually elevated or styled the way I expected. Nothing was bad at all, it just leaned more toward a traditional steakhouse plating style instead of something more aesthetic or standout.
That said, the flavor and overall experience still carried the visit.
Final Foodie Thoughts
Gaucho Grill is a cozy Argentine steakhouse in Buena Park that works well for happy hour, date nights, and group dinners.
I would return, especially to try more menu items beyond the skirt steak.
