Intentional Connections Over Cuban Flavors at Isla Cuban Kitchen

Life is busy, and sometimes reconnecting with old friends takes intentional planning. I recently met up with a high school friend at Isla Cuban Kitchen & Rum Bar, a beautiful hidden gem in La Palma CA,. Though our kids don’t know each other yet, we carved out time to laugh, reminisce, and just enjoy each other’s company proving that meaningful connections don’t happen by accident.

The ambiance sets the tone: black-and-white vintage 1950s elegance, intimate lighting, and an overall timeless feel. I started with a crisp, fresh mojito, perfectly paired with the elegant atmosphere. For the main course, the Rabo Encendido (ox tail) was outstandingly tender, flavorful, and authentically Cuban, complemented by sweet plantains and rice with black beans. Every bite reminded me to savor the moment.

This experience wasn’t just about the food though, it was about intention: showing up for yourself and for others. It was about appreciating the present, and making ordinary moments extraordinary. Isla Cuban Kitchen is perfect for reconnecting, celebrating, or simply treating yourself to something special.
