There are some coffee shops you walk into and immediately see the vision. Piccolo Coffee is one of those places. I visited on a Wednesday morning looking for a cozy place where I could sit, study, and get some work done. The first thing that stood out was the atmosphere. The colors, decor, and overall design create a beautiful and inviting space that feels picture-worthy. I could easily see this becoming a great place for a coffee date, catching up with a friend, or enjoying a slow morning.
It is important to note that Piccolo is currently in a soft launch phase and is not fully open yet. With that in mind, I do see a lot of potential. The seating makes it a comfortable option for those looking to work or study, and I did notice others enjoying the space in that way as well. However, I think the biggest opportunity for Piccolo is making sure the products and customer experience match the beautiful environment they have created.
During my visit, I ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee with cream top and a blueberry gluten-free muffin, spending about $12 total. The coffee was enjoyable, but I personally wanted a stronger espresso flavor. For someone looking for a bold coffee experience, I think the drink could benefit from a little more coffee intensity and balance. The muffin unfortunately did not meet my expectations. I did not taste much blueberry flavor, and after a couple of bites, I decided not to finish it.
The service was another area where there is room for improvement. When I asked about the meaning behind the name Piccolo, I was hoping for a little more interaction and connection, but the employee I spoke with seemed disengaged and did not make eye contact. In a coffee shop environment, those small moments of connection can make a customer feel welcomed and appreciated.
Overall, I believe Piccolo has a beautiful foundation and a lot of potential. The atmosphere is charming, the space is clean, and the concept has the opportunity to become something special. As the business continues to develop, focusing on consistency, product quality, and creating a welcoming customer experience will help bring the entire vision together.
I’m rooting for Piccolo because the potential is there. Sometimes the best businesses are the ones willing to listen, grow, and refine their craft.
