Puesto- Irvine Ca

I had the pleasure of dining at Puesto located in Park Place on a Wednesday afternoon between
12 and 1 PM.
Right in the middle of the day when everything is alive, but not chaotic.
That’s exactly how I would describe this place:intentionally busy.
Puesto sits in the heart of a community where people are doing life; working, living, meeting, connecting. With apartments, a hotel, and a gym all around, the energy feels active but not overwhelming. It’s not “New York busy”… it’s purposeful.
And let me tell you… it was a beautiful day.
The way Puesto sits on the corner, catching the light just right, it already feels like a summer spot even before summer hits. I can only imagine how it glows during those warm evenings.
✨ First Impressions
We arrived around lunchtime, and I quickly realized… I made my reservation for the wrong location (Anaheim instead of Irvine—don’t judge me 😂).
But here’s where service matters.
The hostess and what seemed like a manager didn’t make it awkward or difficult, they kindly accommodated us and got us seated in a perfect booth. Once we were seated, everything flowed smoothly.
🎨 Atmosphere (Aesthetic Restaurant in Irvine)
Puesto is beautiful but not in a way that tries too hard.
Think:
wood accents
industrial touches
pops of color and art in unexpected places
It’s elevated, but still warm.
The hanger-style windows wrap around the building, letting in gorgeous natural light making it perfect for daytime dining.
One of my favorite parts? The open kitchen.
I call it a transparency kitchen because everything is out for you to see. It adds to the experience and builds anticipation for what’s coming next.
Also, fun fact: it’s connected to the AC Hotel Irvine, perfect for a staycation or if you’re visiting from out of town.
A Few Things to Know Before You Go
Parking is in the structure at Park Place (they validate )
The space can get busy during lunch hours, especially midweek
The main entrance door is a bit heavy—use your strength lol
Great for both casual lunches and business meet-ups
Food
Before you go, I highly recommend checking the menu ahead of time because there are a lot of options, and you don’t want to feel rushed.
Puesto is known for their tacos, and once we heard that, we knew exactly where to start.
What We Ordered:
Chicken Al Pastor Taco
Marinated in hibiscus tea with caramelized onions…yes, hibiscus. Slightly sweet, super flavorful, and well balanced.
Surf & Turf Taco
Rich, flavorful, and done right.
Guacamole Flight (MUST-TRY)
A whole experience:
Mango + pomegranate → fresh and refreshing
Parmesan → sounds questionable, tastes AMAZING
Chicharrón → savory with juicy meat (yes, meat in guac 👀)
And the chips and salsa?
Light, crispy, not overly salty, the perfect starter without filling you up too fast.
🍹 Drinks
We started with the Perfect Margarita. Smooth, balanced, and dangerous in the best way (couldn’t taste the liquor, but the buzz was there 😉).
Also tried:
Cucumber margarita
Watermelon margarita
Both refreshing, both solid choices.
🍰 Dessert
Let’s be honest… this part matters.
Pistachio Tres Leches Cake
The cake itself was moist and delicious, but the passion fruit whipped cream had a strong zest that didn’t pair well with the pistachio for me. I would’ve loved a strawberry cream instead.
🔥 Churro Sundae (MUST-ORDER)
This is the one. Vanilla ice cream, churro bites, pistachio crumble, cajeta drizzle, and dark chocolate chunks. This is next level!
I would come back just for this and sit outside in the summer with a cocktail and call it a day.
Service Experience
Service was a highlight.
Friendly, attentive, and welcoming (shoutout to Ale & Joanna 👏🏽)
Food came out FAST—like they were reading our minds
Restaurant and restrooms were clean
When they brought the wrong dessert, they didn’t charge us, they encouraged us to try it
That kind of service matters.
Because when the food, atmosphere, and service align… that’s when an experience really stands out.
Coins Spent & Value
We spent about $125, which felt fair for the quality, portions, and overall experience.
✅ Pretty Plates
✅ Good Food
✅ Dope Vibes
Puesto hit all three for me.
💭 Final Foodie Thoughts
Puesto isn’t just a place you eat, it’s a place you experience.
From the intentional atmosphere to the thoughtful service to the creativity in the food… everything just works.
Even with my reservation mix-up, they made it seamless.
Even with a dessert I didn’t love, they gave us one I can’t stop thinking about.
Would I go back? Absolutely.
Next on my list: the enchiladas 👀
🔑 Pro Tips (from me to you 😉)
Parking is easy & validated—just don’t forget your ticket like I did lol
Look at the menu before you go—you’ll need a game plan
Mention allergies early (nuts are used in some dishes)
The guac flight? don’t think about it—just order it
And PLEASE don’t leave without that churro sundae
